My grandfather bought a property in Uttar Pradesh in 1966 using proper documents. He gave it to a milkman who used it to keep his buffaloes. A few years ago, we asked him to vacate, but he refused. We fought a case in court and won in 2006. We need to execute that order. However, we recently discovered that this land was acquired by the Uttar Pradesh government under the Land Acquisition Act of 1894 in 1972 and handed over to an Improvement Trust. We have a copy of the notification and Land Acquisition papers, but we were unaware of this and were not informed about it until 2016. The compensation of Rs. 220 was not claimed by anyone. 1. What legal options can we pursue? 2. Can we reclaim our land based on the fact that the government did not develop this land?
