My neighbour and I both own 1500 square feet plots, each facing a different road. However, there’s an extra 600 square feet of land between our plots that’s not accounted for in the official documents. I’ve built my house on my 1500 square feet and used a portion of the extra space for gardening and a small wooden room. Now, my neighbour is claiming this extra space belongs to him and wants me to demolish the room. He’s refusing to measure his property from the road, and won’t even consider sharing the disputed area. It feels like he’s trying to grab this extra land, especially since he’s a police officer and is pressuring me. What legal steps can I take to protect my property and address this situation? My Nani has lived with my Mama since Dada passed away 8 years ago. She has 4 daughters and 2 sons. Recently, Mama took Nani to the registrar’s office and asked her to sign some papers. Because Nani is illiterate, she signed everything. Later, she learned these papers transferred her property to Mama’s name. All of Nani’s children have equal rights to the property. My family owns ancestral land in Nanded district. Our neighbor illegally sold a portion of our land, claiming it as their own. Though we fought the case, we unfortunately lost. My father, who initiated the suit, has passed away. Now, I have about 10 guntha of land left that’s free of any claims. Can I sell, lease, or rent this land without any legal issues? My family has been farming our 40-acre land in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh for the past 15 years. This year, the forest ranger is stopping us from cultivating, claiming it’s forest land. The problem is, around 250 acres in this area are disputed between farmers and the forest department. Our village records show a joint agreement for farmers to use this land. However, the forest department uses an older map and insists our farmland is entirely forest land, making farming impossible. What legal options do we have to get a stay order or use land authority to keep farming until the dispute is settled? How long would it take to get a stay so we can plant crops this season?
