My new restaurant in Bardoli, near Baben Lake, is called “Lakeview Restaurant” – it’s even in a spot called “Lakeview Point.” But just two days before opening, I got a call from another “Lakeview Restaurant” in Surat, about 45km away, saying they have the name registered. I’ve already set up everything with the “Lakeview Restaurant” name in town. My lawyer suggested adding a word like “The” to make it “The Lakeview Restaurant.” Will this be enough to avoid any legal trouble?

You can file a writ of habeas corpus before the Bombay High Court, arguing that your friend’s continued detention without a proper investigation is illegal. The court can then direct the Mumbai police to expedite the investigation and consider your friend’s release on bail.
