My friend owes me money, promising to clear three cheques by December 31st. One bounced a month ago, and he’s been making excuses. He’s now promising to pay online on specific dates in December: 12th, 19th, and 29th. He’s been changing his mind before, though. Should I wait until the end of December or take legal action now? What’s the best way to handle this situation in India?

It’s not safe to give original documents. You should demand an allotment letter first. If the cheque bounces, you can file a case with copies of documents, but originals will strengthen your case.
