My family owns land in a rural area, and the government plans to acquire it in 2031. Will we receive a nearby plot of land in exchange, or will we be compensated with money? If it’s money, will the amount be based on the registered value in the stamp act or the current market value? And if it’s market value, how is that value decided?

Under the Land Acquisition Act, 2013, you are entitled to compensation for the land acquired. This compensation can be in the form of a nearby plot of land or monetary compensation, depending on the specific circumstances. The amount will be based on the market value, determined by a qualified valuer appointed by the government, considering factors like location, land use, and prevailing market rates.
