I’m an Indian freelancer and finished 7 projects for a client in Finland. He paid me, but a month later, he filed a chargeback and the payment was reversed. Freelancer.com support says he disputed the payment with his bank. It seems he used someone else’s credit card to make a fraudulent payment, and it was later reversed. I deleted the websites I built for him since I wasn’t paid. Now he’s threatening legal action if I don’t rebuild the sites. I have all the payment reversals, chat logs, and Freelancer support screenshots as proof. Can this client file a case against me? If so, where would he file it – in India or Finland? What kind of crime could I be accused of? I only deleted my work because I wasn’t paid. Please advise.

You can file a complaint with the Labour Commissioner or the local police station for non-payment of wages. You can also approach a legal aid clinic or an advocate for advice and assistance. Since you have no official documents, it is advisable to gather any evidence you may have, like witness statements, to support your claim.
